Where there are expectations, there is Conflict. That is a given. We encounter this in our personal relationships, in the workplace and out there in the world. We have expectations that our rights and interests will be respected, and when we perceive that they are not, we enter into full blown conflict. Unless we learn to manage it well and learn the well known techniques of resolution that we can apply to any situation.

In a marriage , or in a family situation where people traditionally are “expected to love” each other, one hopes that there may be emotional reasons for wanting to resolve conflict.

Team Morale

The proverbial Elephant in the room !  Everybody knows it when morale is plummeting, but few realize that it is gaining momentum until after it is too late and not much can be done to restore it .

And yet, all along,  it has been right there staring them in the face and trumpeting up a storm, but each person politely looks away and goes about the day in the vain hope that if they ignore it , it will go away.  Sound familiar?

Sinking Team Morale  is one of the Red Flags of many more serious issues that need to be dealt with , as soon as they are observed, instead of being swept under the carpet. The result of doing that is dangerous not just to the emotional health of an uncared for team, but also to the productivity and resultant profitability of the company.

Even the lucky ones, the overnight successes – movie stars; a new invention, not only took years of behind the scenes preparation, but also largely unacknowledged teams of people who contributed in many ways to that success!

Driving from San Francisco Airport to our hotel deep in California’s Northern Wine country, I spotted the most amazing sight – forests of toweringly tall yet gracefully slender trees stretching against the early morning sky in silent sun worship. Who were these giants and why had I never heard of them?

 Once again driving along a curving mountain drive from San Jose to the California c0ast, we were spellbound by the breathtaking beauty and majesty of these beautiful trees, their rich red trunks aflame with the afternoon sunlight seemingly huddled together in silent anticipation.
